Hall of Fame

Hey there, everyone!

Hope you’ve all had a good start to the new year. We’re a little bit under a month Into 2018, and I’m sure that people out there are following up with all their New Year’s resolutions and goals. So in light of that spirit, today’s blog features an inspirational song that’ll hopefully keep that fire and drive going!

Irish pop trio, The Script, collaborated with Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am in 2012 with “Hall of Fame”, an empowering song that promotes the message of fearlessly following your dreams. The lyrics of the song are repetitive and easy to follow, particularly in each verse.

Most lines in the song start with either “You can” or “You could”, hinting that there are endless possibilities as long as you stay focused and persistent.

You can throw your hands up
You can beat the clock
You can move a mountain
You can break rocks
You can be a master
Don’t wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you gon’ find yourself

What’s cool about this song is how universal the message is.

The Hall of Fame isn’t necessarily one spot for everyone to get to (like a Sports or rock n roll Hall of Fame). Rather, it’s an ideal that’s achievable no matter what your passion is.

Check out the bridge of the song:

Be students, be teachers
Be politicians, be preachers
Be believers, be leaders
Be astronauts, be champions

From students, to politicians, to astronauts out in space, the song urges listeners to follow through and strive to be great at what they love. And that’s something we should all look to do, whether our goals are New Year’s Resolutions or not! My favorite line in the whole song is:

How you ever gonna know if you never even try?

A perfect response to anyone who questions or feels hesitant to take the chance to follow their dreams.

So keep digging through everyone! New Years is a good time to start fresh and set new goals for yourself. And when things get rough, there’s no need to fret. Continue to work hard and strive for greatness, and eventually we’ll all be in our own Hall of fames, wherever that might be.
