Keep the Summer High Going by Looking Forward: 10 Things to Look Forward to This Fall

It can be hard transitioning from the sunny days of summer to the overcast days of fall. But, I have found that the transition can be much easier if I have fun things to look forward to.

Below is a list of some of my favorite things the autumn season has to offer. Use this list as a guide for your own fall adventures, or use it as inspiration to create your own list of what you are looking forward to this season. This year I encourage you to joyfully leave your summer behind and get excited about the fall!

1. Cooler Weather

Living in the south, summer days can be excruciatingly hot. With temperatures reaching into the hundreds, the cooler days of fall are a refreshing change.

2. A New Wardrobe

Fall is a time to be cozy, comfortable and warm. Each fall I look forward to wearing my leggings, hoodies, beanies and boots. Whatever it is that you enjoy wearing the most, you cannot go wrong with a fall wardrobe.

3. Football Season

For me, fall officially kicks off at the start of the football season! Fun food, friendly rivalry, and time spent with great friends is what makes this time of year so special to me. Even if you are not a sports fan, everyone can benefit from the extra time spent with good friends and family.

4. Corn Mazes

If you have never stumbled your way through a muddy corn maze in the dark, with nothing but a flashlight and a group of good friends, then you have been missing out! This fall I am looking forward to some great corn maze adventures.

5. Soups

There is nothing like a hot bowl of soup to keep you warm in the fall. Not only are soups great time savers in the kitchen, but there are so many different kinds that it is hard to get bored. This fall I look forward to eating a lot more soup and chilli.

6. Outdoor Activities

Being outside is amazing for our health. The fresh air is rejuvenating not only for our bodies physically but for our souls as well. However, heat exhaustion is no joke in the summer which leads to a lot of time spent indoors. This fall I am looking forward to spending more time outside going hiking, biking, running, and playing sports. If you have been wanting to take your activities outdoors, fall is the perfect time to do so.

7. Holidays

Two of my favorite holidays, Halloween and Thanksgiving, take place in the fall! During Halloween, I get to dress up and pretend to be anyone I want to be, and during Thanksgiving I get to eat delicious food and spend time with friends and family.

8. Hot Drinks

There is nothing like a hot drink to warm you on a brisk autumn day. Fall is my favorite time to drink hot tea, cider, and cocoa!

9. Pumpkin Carving

Whether you are an expert at it or not, pumpkin carving is a great activity! During the fall, my friends and I get together to exercise our pumpkin carving skills while enjoying each others company and conversation.

10. New Hair

Every fall I bring in the new season by dying my hair lighter and freshening up the style. It is a physical manifestation of my readiness for fall and the welcoming of a new season.
