Contemporary Throwback

Welcome to L’Art De La Mode, the space where I share the pieces I love and the styles that help me express who I am. I believe that fashion is not about the latest trends or who wore what. Fashion is about allowing yourself to feel beautiful, and finding the pieces and styles that are a representation of your inner beauty and who you are.

Let’s throwback to the 60s with big hair, crazy prints, and dramatic makeup! Though this look hints at popular fashions of the past, this outfit is anything but vintage. The dark jean blouse and rayon pants keep this 60s inspired look contemporary and fashion forward while the delicate accessories and neutral colored shoes ensure a timeless elegance.

This outfit is the perfect blend of comfort and style. The pants are soft against the skin and the blouse is just loose enough for my arms to have full range of motion even though the fabric is more structured. This outfit is not only comfortable but it is also so so fashionable! I LOVE how the printed pant makes the jean blouse pop, and how the dainty details of the jewelry and gold accents of my shoes create an understated romance. Yet, everything ties together perfectly, complimenting each piece’s best details while creating a stunning style.

I must take a moment to mention my very unique earrings and necklace. I am in love with both of these pieces and have been enjoying their delicate nature and simple design. I did not have any jewelry similar to these pieces in my collection so I was thrilled when I was able to purchase them through FabFitFun. FabFitFun is a seasonal beauty box I subscribe to and they are amazing! You can check them out here. 🙂 I am finding myself drawn to the subtle nature and elegance of my necklace and earrings more and more. I used to always opt for bold earrings or a statement necklace, so I am happy that I have been able to expand my style with these delicate accessories.

When I first created this outfit, it was before a business meeting, and I remember thinking that I wanted to wear something that was fun, fashion forward, and something that represented my style and personality. I remember wearing this outfit for the first time and feeling so amazing in my own skin because I felt like my personality was represented. I felt like myself.

Sometimes it can be scary to let go of what other people think of us and to just be ourselves. Yet, every time we muster up the courage to let our self shine through, we build our confidence to do it again.

Next time you are creating an outfit, think about how your style can further represent who you are. How your fashion can help you be you.
