Casual Elegance

Welcome to L’Art De La Mode, the space where I share the pieces I love and the styles that speak to me and help me express who I am or what I am feeling. believe that fashion is not about the latest trends or who wore what. This month’s look is all about casual elegance. The secret to this outfit’s sophistication lies within its details. From the delicate jewelry to the rolled up sleeves and pant legs, each piece and how it is worn is significant.

I am in love with everything about this outfit. It’s fun, it’s comfortable, and it is incredibly stylish. One of my favorite pieces in this look are my trusty Vans. Now, I must admit that I am not a big fan of sneakers unless I am exercising. In fact, these are the first pair of fashion sneakers I have ever purchased!

I bought these Vans when I was in Rome last year and have quickly found ways to make them enjoyable for me to wear. I love their neutral gray color and the fresh white of the sole and the laces. These shoes make this outfit. Sure, you could wear ankle boots with this look or flats, but that’s what would be expected. The Vans are what keep this look contemporary and fashion forward.

The jewelry that I paired with my jean on jean look is delicate yet geometric. The t-bar of the bracelet and the triangle earrings bring a little edge to the outfit while the dainty rectangle necklace keeps it classy.

Three of my pieces in this month’s look, plus my lip color, are actually from FabFitFun! The necklace, bracelet, and scarf all came from my past two boxes. If you aren’t familiar with FabFitFun, they are a seasonal beauty/fashion/wellness subscription box that sends you top quality full size products. I am literally obsessed! If you want to find out more about them you can use this link.

We have to talk about this amazing ModCloth scarf! I waited all winter for the perfect blanket scarf and thanks to my FabFitFun box I found my perfect match. I love that this scarf is black and white versus being brightly colored. It makes it very easy to pair with a multitude of pieces. I also appreciate how the black and white pattern keeps this scarf elegant while still being casual. It can be hard to wear a blanket scarf sometimes because it is such a substantial piece, so the neutral colors in this one make it a little easier to wear.

My Ann Taylor blouse and Aeropostale skinny jeans are the perfect pieces for my jean on jean look. These pieces pair so well together thanks to their fabric combinations, colors, and cut. The jeans are soft and stretchy allowing them to move freely with my legs and their dark, rich, blue hue pops against my skin. Their very skinny construction keeps the lower half of my outfit tight and tailored allowing my top to be loose and textured. The Ann Taylor blouse is made from 100% lyocell which is a soft and flowing fabric that feels like butter against your skin, and the slightly lighter blue jean color creates a lovely contrast between my two pieces. The hemline of this blouse also adds to the very important details of these pieces and makes this look shine.

Now, this blog post cannot finish without mentioning my Free People sunglasses. They are oversized, funky, and just so fun to wear! Yes, they are half the size of my face but I love them exactly how they are. Sometimes you just need a big bold accessory.
